TO GO
God designed church planting to expand His kingdom. So, the eternal perspective of church planting rests in the fact that it is a means of rescuing lost souls for Christ eternally. The continual planting of new congregations is one of the most crucial strategies for the growth of the body of Christ and the continual corporate renewal and revival of existing churches.
Two thousand years ago, Jesus chose a handful of men and said, "Follow me." These men didn't understand every detail, but they trusted God and obeyed his call.
Jesus came and said to them, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age. Matthew 28:18-20. The way Jesus modeled intentional relationships in His ministry is the desire of our hearts as we go; to be His hands and feet where He leads.
As our sending church, Petsworth Church's mission and vision is to always be a sending church. Our desire is to raise up leaders who have a passion to sacrifice themselves to go into other communities and share the gospel for the sake of reaching His people. Our prayer is to never see this cease.
Why
Franklin
The question we are asked most often is, "Why Franklin County? What is so special about Franklin County? What is so special about Franklin when there are so many other places you could plant a church?" The reason is simple, because God called us here. If I were to be completely honest, I asked the same questions. However, the more we surrender to what God is calling us to, the more God has gripped our hearts for this area.
This is why we are planting Ridgeview Church in Boones Mill, VA. We believe the church is strongest and most viable when we have faithful, Christ-centered congregations scattered throughout the whole world that proclaim the gospel of Jesus. We are planting Ridgeview Church because we believe the need is great for more faithful churches in this area, to come together with the other churches to grow together and reach the lost for His glory.
